Work tasks

The IT Unit at NIB is seeking a

BI Developer

to join the Business Intelligence & Information (BI&I) team. The position is a fixed-term 4-year contract.

The BI&I team is responsible for business intelligence and analytics and content management tools used within the Bank. The team provides requisite development and support activities (including patching, maintenance, testing etc.) to BI&I applications including the Microsoft BI stack (comprising of SSIS, SSAS, SSRS and Power BI) and Microsoft SharePoint both on premise and cloud based solutions. In addition, other BI solutions are in use at the Bank.

To support the development of our data warehouse and BI applications, NIB is looking for a BI Developer to join the Business Intelligence & Information team. The BI developer fills the vital role of creating and maintaining existing scripts needed to extract, transform, clean, and move data and metadata so they can be loaded into a data warehouse, data mart, or data lake. This role is required throughout the development and growth of the data warehouse, but will also be involved in production support of the already existing data warehouse solutions. The role will also include creation and deployment of SSIS packages, maintenance of existing SSAS cubes, improvement of monitoring capabilities, error logging and error recovery capabilities of ETL jobs.

The main functions of the position are:

• Designing, building, enhancing, and maintaining fault-tolerant ETL processes to make new and existing data sources readily available to advanced users.

• Adapt ETL processes to accommodate changes in source systems and new business user requirements.

• Carry out flow-of-data analysis toward developing and/or troubleshooting user-specific data-related issues.

• Integrate processes and tools to monitor and improve data quality and system stability as prescribed by the data governance function.

• Creation and maintenance of technical documentation.

• Perform additional assignments as required by the needs of the company or as directed by management.

The position requires strong team working and communications skills, a high level of individual responsibility, and ability to communicate at a high level when appropriate or drill down into the details when required.

Candidates should have:

• Expert level experience with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) in a data warehouse environment.

• Ability to understand business requirements from a data warehouse and ETL development perspective.

• 5+ years of experience as a SQL Developer, MS BI Developer, or similar role.

• Previous experience with SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS).

• Fluency in English is a prerequisite. A working knowledge of one of the Scandinavian languages is preferable.

Previous experience performing similar technical responsibilities within the financial industry is a major plus.
